🔥 An All-Time Sports Weekend

There are great sports weekends — and then there’s this one.

You had horse racing, hockey, basketball, and a World Series Game 7 for the ages. Canada had a chance to bring a championship north of the border for the first time in decades, but the Toronto Blue Jays sold — twice — and the Los Angeles Dodgers took full advantage.

The Dodgers became the first team since the 2000 Yankees to win back-to-back World Series titles. They spent big on their rotation, and it showed. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was otherworldly — throwing 116 pitches one night, then coming back out to close Game 7 two days later. He finished the job with ice in his veins, proving why he’s worth every penny of that contract.

The final innings had everything you could want: clutch home runs, insane defensive plays, and enough tension to make even casual fans stop scrolling. When Mookie Betts turned that double play to end it, it felt like baseball was back on top. The World Series doubled the viewership of the NBA Finals and demonstrated that the sport can still captivate the world when the stakes are this high.

And for Dodgers fans who were tired of hearing that their 2020 title was a “Mickey Mouse ring,” well, two more since then make it a dynasty. Meanwhile, Toronto will have to live with the what-ifs of missed opportunities and mental errors. It was their series to lose — and they did.

🏈 Broncos Country Riding High

While baseball was making history, football in Denver was making waves. The Broncos are on a six-game win streak, and it’s time the rest of the NFL started paying attention. From a team that was written off early to one that now controls its own playoff destiny, this run has been built on discipline, defense, and belief. Mile High Country is buzzing again, and honestly, it feels good to be back.

We broke down every detail in this week’s episode — how Sean Payton’s approach finally clicked, why Bo Nix is playing within himself, and how the locker room shifted from doubt to swagger has transformed the season.

📊 Week 10 Pick’em Showdown

Our Far End of the Bench Pick’em battle keeps rolling! Here’s where we stand heading into Week 10:

  • Jimmy (25-9-1)
    • Buffalo over Miami
    • Cleveland over the Jets
    • Chicago over the Giants (Sorry, New York.)

  • Niko (29-7)
    • Buffalo over Miami
    • Denver over Las Vegas
    • Indianapolis over Atlanta
    • Seattle over Arizona

Niko still holds the edge, but the season is far from over. I’m making my run — and let’s be real, picking the Bears to beat the Giants might just be the underrated move of the week. Stay tuned to see who takes the lead as we head down the stretch.

💪 Players & Benchwarmers of the Week

Each week, we hand out some love to the heroes and a little shade to those who earned a seat at the end of the bench:

  • Jimmy’s Player of the Week: Colston Loveland — The Bears’ first-round rookie tight end delivered in the clutch, scoring the game-winning touchdown over the Bengals in Cincinnati. Strong, reliable, and already looking like one of the steals of the draft.

  • Jimmy’s Benchwarmer of the Week: Al Golden — Hired from Notre Dame to replace Lou Anarumo as the Bengals’ defensive coordinator, his unit has taken a significant step back. The defense looked lost this week, and it’s starting to show just how much that change hurt Cincinnati.

  • Niko’s Player of the Week: Yoshinobu Yamamoto — The Dodgers’ ace was a machine, closing out Game 7 like a movie script.

  • Niko’s Benchwarmer of the Week: CU Football — We all wanted this season to go differently. They have work to do.
